Giovanni's has been honored in 2016 with its 28th consecutive AAA Four Diamond Award! More than any other restaurant in St. Louis!
"Fantastic experience all around from the old world charm of the restaurant, the suited servers, and the overall atmosphere. Aside from the authentic feel the food is really authentic and nothing like typical American Italian food you find at most Italian restaurants. If you want your same old Italian dishes and cheap prices this is not your place. Instead it's for the REAL Italian experience and one that makes you feel special and glad you came. Dress nice as you would have when you dressed to go for dinner. It's nice these restaurants do still exist." Brad & Kelly J. (Yelp)
"Gem on the Hill - From the time we entered the restaurant until we paid the bill, we were impressed with the impeccable service and attention to detail as well as the delicious meal. In addition to the food and service, we were also impressed with the lovely decor --- making this a true dining experience. We certainly enjoyed our evening at Giovanni's and look forward to another visit.

"Best cannelloni I have ever had, taste and texture were amazing. Didn't know cannelloni could be this good. Good Caesar salad. Veal shank was absolutely unbelievable, girlfriend really liked her George W. Chicken. Tiramisu was delicious. Good wine at the right price points. Service was fantastic. I love Giovanni's." "Giovanni's is one of the fanciest places on the hill. Waiter's in tuxes with table side preparations make you feel like you are a boss in an old Scorsese film. It really has that old school Italian restaurant vibe. The food was excellent." Justin J. ****
"Just wow. In terms of food, it is fantastic. In terms of service, every other restaurant may be all down hill from here. I've had the pleasure of eating here about three times when I lived in the Midwest. Eating here is expensive, so it was an awesome pleasure when one of the Captains greeted me with a "Welcome back, Mr. Cole" on my second visit. Other reviewers have raved about the seafood - I cannot touch seafood, but the veal, lamb, and pastas are to die for. Also, if you ever wanted to order something nice not on the menu - this is the place to do it. My first time I overheard a man order Strawberry Romanov, and the Captain returned with a cart and flambee'd it in front of him. Of course, I asked for the same thing that night and every night I returned. Giovanni's is certainly a destination restaurant - and there are a few US Presidents who can attest to that. It is not cheap, but you more than get what you pay for. Mathew C. *****
"Giovanni's is a dark, windowless, intimate restaurant just on the outside of The Hill area in STL. It's fairly expensive but the food is delicious, you get a lot of it, and its "fancy" enough where you can take business clients or guests you want to impress. I had the Tutto Mare which was more like a bowl of assorted seafood with just a dash of pasta. It was delicious and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. We had the Tiramisu for dessert and it was so good; I may have dreams about it." Jennifer H. ****
"Excellent!!! - Excellent food with great service!!! While I would consider this a pricier establishment, I think it's a great value at the same time!!!! B.
"One of the nicer restaurants on the hill, and of a dying breed. Excellent service, old school charm and meals prepared at your table. Started the meal off right with the canelloni. It just fell apart, and the sauce was amazing. I had the casoncelli. Cooked perfectly, the sauce, composed of mushrooms and garlic was very tasty. The egg plant lasagna was very good and enough for left overs. Ending the meal with zabaglione was the perfect ending. Or waiter, Lewis, who was Excellent and very attentive the entire evening, made this sweet wonderful dessert at the table for us. This was our second time dining here, and i don't know why we haven't been back sooner. Don't forget, it is one of the nicer places on the hill, so be prepared to spend $120- $140 for an evening for two, and have at least an hour and a half for dinner, as this quality of food takes time and is an experience.

They made our celebration so special. I highly recommend Giovanni's. Food and special service was Superb! Dale B.
"The food was excellent and the service even better. James was excellent. A great decision to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary at your restaurant. We'll be back.
"I got on Yelp today with no intention of writing a review today for Giovanni's, but had to when I saw the rating! All I can say is, wrong, wrong, wrong. This place is absolutely amazing. From the food to the service, it simply can't get any better. It's decorated...Classic. After our first visit, it quickly shot to the top of the list over many of "hip" places the boyfriend and I go and/or suggest to our friends. Go here and see for yourself. If you appreciate an exceptional dining experience- you will not be disappointed." Beth C. ****
"Giovanni's is a special occasion restaurant. The food is refined and prepared by Italian chefs that know their stuff. Very formal, each table comes equipped with your own personal "Man-waiter.' They take formality to a level that may be just a wee bit over the top, but if you want to propose to your girlfriend, or celebrate your anniversary, this is your place. The food is exquisite and, but the service is what makes Giovanni's that special occasion place." Kelly B. *****
Fine Italian Dining on the Hill - True Italian dining in St. Louis' Italian neighborhood. Everything is as authentic and delicious as it has been for many years. Don't miss it. Diner 8/8/13
"First let me say that I am very hard to impress, which comes from years of poor service, and bad luck in restaurants. Top that off with being a hobby chef myself, my expectations are high.
Giovanni's really did it for me. This was my first meal out in awhile, and I imagine from here, its all down hill. I called for a reservation, requested a private area if possible, as my wife and I were celebrating New Years, a couple days after the 1's (hey, we have a child).
So, we get seated in a low lit area by ourselves, on a fairly busy Saturday Night. We started with 2 appetizers; Special of the day which was an Amazing Canneloni. The stuffing they used which was surely a pork/lamb mixture was to die for. I would use this stuff for tooth paste if they let me. Our second appetizer was the Scallops. My wife loves scallops, I can leave'm, but glad I didnt this evening. They were cooked to perfection. She at one point actually said these dont even smell of fish, which is what she is used to: Frozen and Fried Scallops. Perfection! Our Dinners were also great. She had a Rainbow pasta with Salmon, which if you like Salmon DO NOT pass this up. It was the best cream sauce I've ever had, surrounded by perfectly cooked pasta and Salmon. My dish was the Tutto-Mare, which was the best I've ever had." Shawn D. ****
